List,

If I understand things right the check_mk postfix queue check on the remote
host is triggered by a postfix user existing on the remote host. Wouldn't it
be better if check_mk would actually check if there is a postfix process
running on the remote host?

Hello Rutger,

the queue check only checks the output of the 'mailq' command which is
executed by the check_mk agent on the target host. The check watches at
the last line(s) of the output to check if there are some mails stuck in
the queue.

The check does not perform a process check.

To create a process check you should use ps or ps.perf (includes
perfdata). But that is one thing you need to configure manually.
