Hi everyone,

I set up the latest free check_mk version on Ubuntu last week and I started monitoring one host correctly. All of a sudden all the services have gone into "Stale" state and the one Crit message says "got no information from host, execution time 0.0 sec"

I have been reading documentation and restarting omd but apparently seems not make any difference. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi,

Check the below:
1. VM is online or not.
2. Check_MK agent is installed and updated.
3. 6556 port is enabled or not.
4. xinetd service should be in started state.

Hi Francisco,

Kindly run the connection test and tell us what you see.
Select your host in Check_MK and click on 'WATO'.
After that, you can click 'Save & Test' (bottom of your screen). This will start a connection test for this particular host, testing ping + agent + SNMP.

In your case at least 'ping' and 'agent' should be green.
What do you see?

Hello Arno,

Thanks for the tipp. Yes, is exactly as you say, ping ,agent and traceroute are green the rest are red.

So it is now monitoring fine like before, just a couple of questions.

1. I think I have updated the check_mk agent on the host and when I run the Save & Test it shows

BuildDate: Dec 14 2017

Is this the latest one?

2. The Check_MK Discovery is on Warn State showing the text "WARN - 1 unmonitored services (windows_updates:1)WARN, no vanished services found", does that mean that the agent cannot check the windows update service ? how do you suggest to work around it?

Hi Francisco,

Best download your agent from your own Check_MK installation, not online (Sidebar --> WATO - Configuration --> Monitoring agents).
This way you'll get the agent that is meant for your version of Check_MK.

Most agents are compatible with a range of versions of Check_MK so I don't know if this will solve your issue.
Still, I suppose it doesn't hurt to upgrade.
