Hi list
i just upgraded from 1.5.0p7 to 1.5.0p8 on Ubuntu 18.04. Everything went
fine, except the action menu for log files won't open anymore.
There is just a thin bar appearing, i attached a screenshot.
What i've tried: all browsers available for macOS Mojave, clearing browser
data.
No help unfortunately except downgrading to 1.5.0p7 again

Hi Thomas,

this seems to be a bug in version 1.5.0p8, it’s also not possible to view host/service details or services of a host.
Apparently this only affects the CRE version, CEE is working fine for me.

now there are much worse one? I try cmk about 4 weeks and get two time
showstoppers. Have I chosen the wrong solution? How is it possible, that
something so essential goes through the reviews? I lose confidence.

Hi,

All users (LDAP and local) have similar issues. Same folder, same
permissions one hosts shows all good. I can see graphs and services.
Same folder different host I am not permitted. Host inherits
permissions. Rollback to p7 and all good I can see everything what
permissions allowed me.

This looks like some other problem.
What happens if you click on the graph symbol? Is PNP4Nagios opening
or do you use the Enterprise edition?
One radical step can be to move your user folder from
~/var/check_mk/web/<username> to another location and test with a
empty user account if the problem persist.
It looks like a problem with your user role but I'm not sure.

The strange thing is that there are no changes regarding the permissions
and also with changes in the inheritance.
What happens if you use the default admin account "cmkadmin"?

It is the same even cmkadmin get not_permitted in graphs and no services
are displayed then I click on host. But if try host service discovery
check_mk detects services. Maybe i need to tic some sort of permission
on folders, we mostly use default config.

What happens if you reset the permissions on your roles? Or better question
are your roles modified?
Your admin role should have no modifications and full access to all
sections.
One other thing not so clear from your problem description - is the
not_permitted issue related to the normal web gui or inside WATO if you
modify a host?

Hi,

Created new user, user group, granted admin rights. Group assigned to
host folder. Folder permissions granted for group and sub-folders.
Login  to web with user and go to host group. Move mouse over graph icon
on host A, I see ping info. Move mouse over graph icon on host B, I see
red screen, white letters saying not permitted.

Click with mouse on host A, I see services. Click with mouse on host B,
I see nothing, web page backround.

Check permissions in wato on hosts A and B permissions are the same.

Hi,

Forgot to add folder is assigned to a host group "arrays" for example.
User group is contact for this group.

service discovery check_mk detects services. Maybe i need to tic
some sort of permission on folders, we mostly use default config.

The strange thing is that there are no changes regarding the
permissions and also with changes in the inheritance.
What happens if you use the default admin account "cmkadmin"?

This looks like some other problem.
What happens if you click on the graph symbol? Is
PNP4Nagios opening or do you use the Enterprise edition?
One radical step can be to move your user folder from
~/var/check_mk/web/<username> to another location and test
with a empty user account if the problem persist.
It looks like a problem with your user role but I'm not sure.

details or services of a host.
Apparently this only affects the CRE version,
CEE is working fine for me.

Hi there,

Same behavior here, menu action and view of host/service details of a
host is not possible for some hosts.

Only FQDN named hosts seems to be affected (dots in the name ?), rename
host "foo.domain.com" to "foo" and display is ok again.

Our setup : CRE 1.5.0p8 on debian 9.6 ; ~600 hosts and 15k services.

Where do we submit bug report ?

the Check_MK team is already aware of this bug and will fix it asap.
In the meantime just downgrade to version 1.5.0p7.

After some testing on my installations I also found that only popup menus
are affected with "." inside the service or host name.
Example "Log System" is working but "Log /tmp/logfile.txt" is not working.
The same as mentioned before with the FQDN host names.
